Driving to the Sahara dunes

After another delicious breakfast we were back on the road heading to the Sahara dunes

We made a little detour once we hit Rissani to do the 21 kilometer circuit touristique visiting the ancient Ksar

Then we headed to Merzouga to begin our desert excursion.

We met our guide Omar  who let us into the desert.

We stopped before we reached the came to enjoy our first sunset over the dunes.

This was pretty plush 'camping', I must admit. Dinner was delicious!

We enjoyed the fire before doing some star gazing, with more stars than we have ever seen in our lives.
