A desert Christmas morning

Jonas was the one who was up and ready to see the sunrise on Christmas morning, so he and I rushed out as I really didn't want him to miss it. We weren't sure if anyone would follow, but Daniel and Evaëlle stumbled out before it was too late.

After the sunrise we brought out the stockings and the kids opened up the presents in the Sahara sand.

Next up, a delicious Christmas breakfast before beginning our trek out of the dunes.

We left Merzouga and decided to visit the market in Rissani. Unfortunately this was where we discovered that Evaëlle had lost one of her Addidas shoes... It was inevitable with the way she throws them off all the time.
The donkey market.
Sheep market. Jonas clearly not very impressed.

From there we drove up through the Ziz valley.

We finally made it to our Riad in Midelt in the evening. We were so looking forward to nice hot showers after our time in the desert, and Daniel hopped in right away. Unfortunataly we did not think about needing to wait for the water heater, so his shower was ice cold. But her was the only clean one for dinner anyway.

Evaëlle was a big fan of the soup everywhere we went.
