The castles of Bellinzona

I had toyed with staying with the kids in Tocino for a couple extra days, but an unexpected lice infestation called us home. As we headed home we stopped for a visit to the beautiful castles of Bellinzona

Evaëlle found this spot and was not about to leave again.

Due to a GPS malfunction, we ended up along the Route Nationale that took us through Valais over the Simplon pass back home, rather than on the highway. We were a little nervous at first, as we were not entirely sure the pass would be open, but it ended up to be very scenic drive.

Our heaven-sent pharmacy; the only one we found open on Easter Monday in the middle of the mountains.

Lake Como

Easter morning started out with a search for Easter baskets

Then we headed out to spend the day at Lake Como

We hopped on the boat in Menaggio to head to Varenna first thing.

After a beautiful morning in Varenna we hopped back on the boat to Bellagio

Waiting in a nice long line for ice creas. You know it is going to be good if you have to wait in a line like this!

And back to Menaggio

Daniel was brave enough to go swimming with the kids, even when the rain started falling.

I just watched from the balcony with Evaëlle, who called for her dad and was clearly not happy that she had been left behind.
