Welcome to Iceland!

At the very end of July we headed off on our much awaited trip to Iceland! Our flight left from Basel, where we slept the night before in order to be able to catch our 6:00 flight to Kerflavik. We had to wake the kids up at 4:30, and hoped that they would sleep on the flight... But, of course, they didn't.

So as soon as we picked up the rental car, loaded the kids and grabbed a quick bite to eat, the kids passed out. This picture of Evaëlle seems to capture just how painfully tired she was...

Daniel and I were able to enjoy some beautiful scenery as we drove the 5 hours from the airport to our first stop in the Myvatn region.

 Driving past Akereyri
We stopped off at Godafoss waterfall

The kids mostly enjoyed playing the volcano dirt
We headed up to Husavik for dinner at Naustid, specializing in fish skewers and soup.

Jonas went on and on about the restaurant, claiming this as his favorite restaurant ever with his favorite fish ever
After dinner we headed to the farmhouse where we were staying while in the region. The kids loved the farm sheep.
