Historic triangle

Maybe this captures the stairs...

The next day we headed out on our Historic Triangle adventure.

It involved leaving from Hoorn on a 1.5 hour steam train trek

We stopped at an old, once-functional train stop.

The kids were able to try some old-time toys out.

On the train we ordered some of the delicious poffertjes, Dutch mini-pancakes

The even brought Easter eggs around for the kids to decorate.

We stopped in Medemblik for lunch.

Next we hopped aboard the steamer to Enkhuizen. The entire voyage was a great was to see the Dutch country side with its patchwork fields and the dikes holding the Netherlands in.

At Enkhuizen we visited the Zuidersee open-air museum. Have a mentioned that I am a nut for open-air museum? Well, it so happens I am.

Daniel going for the top of the gigantic Styrofoam egg covered by chocolate. They had finally taken the chisels and hammers away from the ravenous children, so Daniel felt comfortable getting in there.

On the train ride back to Amsterdam we ditched the kids a few feet down so we could avoid their topics of conversation. I group of a few guys ended up sitting across the aisle from them. These guys seemed much more impressed by the boys' armpit tooting sounds and caca talk than we ever are, so Jaxon and Jonas were thoroughly occupied. It led to a fairly relaxing trip back for the rest of us. 

Eva was happy to get back to the hotel and explore in the evening, as always. She sure loves where crawling can take her.
