Crossing the Strait of Gibralter

We knew the last day of trip was going to be a long one. We had to get from Asilah, Morocco, cross the strait of Gibralter and then get to Malaga, Spain, where I flight would take us back to Switzerland
We enjoyed our last Moroccan breakfast
Homemade mango shakes

Evaëlle loved the freedom she had in the taxi

At the ferry port in Tangier. We thought that getting a boat across would be pretty straight forward, but then we forgot we were in a developing country. Everyone seemed to have something to offer us, a ticket all the way to Malaga which included the bus on the otherside, but we would have to pretend to be part of some strange group. Then no one knew when the boat actually left. It leaves at 11h00, oh sorry, no 11h30; oh no, 13h, and on and on.
Finally we got on a boat

And about four hours after arriving at the port our boat finally set off.
All that for a windy 1/2 hour ride across the Strait of Gibralter

Once we arrived in Tarifa, we hopped on the bus to Algiciras, from where we needed to find a way to Malaga. We ended up taking a 'taxi' the two hour drive up the coast, finding out on the way that the driver was actually illegal and we could all end up in big trouble if we were stropped by the police. Luckily we weren't
We finally got to our hotel in Malaga around 8h30 that night, exhausted. Unfortunately this meant that there was no time to visit the city. Next time, I suppose. We were also starving as we had not really eaten anything but a few snacks since breakfast and everyone was excited to eat.

The next morning when it was time to get up, even Eva refused, by pulling her blanket over her head. Usually she is the one to hop up.
Back in Switzerland!
We drove home from Basel and the kids found the rest of their Christmas presents waiting for them under the tree.

The remains of Christmas... We sure had a great one!
