A Nice Birthday Excursion

I had seriously considered having a birthday party with all of Jaxon's friends this year, but then was overwhelmed thinking of all the people I felt I would have to invite and how much other stuff we had going on a the time, so I let him choose between a party and a birthday camping trip to Nice including a trip to Marineland (like SeaWorld). So we ended up spending a long weekend in Nice to celebrate his birthday. We all had a blast and I didn't stress out. I think it was a good choice. Visiting Eze-le-Village. Luckily it was fairly empty and the kids had a great time running through the little pathways.

A quick trip to Monaco. Daniel said he felt silly dressed casually, so we didn't hang out too long.

The park in front of the Monte Carlo Casino.

We spent a very fun Saturday at Marineland. I think stingrays are Jaxon's favorite animal now.

No orca whale show is complete without cheerleaders, right?

I had to post this because Daniel worked so very hard to get this photo.

We spent the evening in Antibes after Marineland had shut down.

Jaxon picked out the yacht that he wants to buy when he grows up. He'll need to pick out a better paying career than being an animal keeper like he wants to be. Maybe if he becomes a doctor on a spaceship like he was planning on before.

This was the part of the Chagall Museum that the kids enjoyed the most: the garden outside. I loved the inside.

The view from castle hill in Nice.

We spent a long time playing at Castle Hill.

Enjoying Promenades des Anglais.

We had such a fun time camping. Jonas got such a kick out of it and Jaxon experienced fireflies for his first time.

We spent a day hiking around Cap Ferrat, which was a blast and absolutely beautiful.

Jaxon's actual birthday was pretty laid back, though Daniel did take a half day, which was fun. We started with a breakfast of crepes and then spend the day at Parc Borely, the biggest park in Marseille, and the beach.
His birthday dinner ended up being goat cheese/walnut/honey pizza on the beach which was absolutely delicious, even with a little bit of sand on it.
I can't believe I have a five year old! We sure love this little boy that adds so much fun to our lives. I wish I could keep him this age forever. At least he still tells me that he wants to live with me in the same house forever. Let's hope it stays that way!

  4. Janet, I can't believe how big he is! I don't think I've seen him since he was a rolly polly little baby. (Which also means that it's been WAY too long since I've seen you!) Love you!
