Essaouira

Such a joy to wake up to this each morning
Sporting her brothers' old pajamas

There were cats everywhere. We would play a game where we would count the cats. Sometimes that would work to keep the boys from wrestling in the streets.
Aahhh...so cute.
Chillin' on the cannons
The one thing we had on our itinerary for the day was to locate fruit. Luckily we stumbled on the local market with no problem
Halal meat. Apparently it can stay good like this for up to two days
This became one of our staples: dried dates, figs and raisins and nuts

Daniel bargaining with the herb guy to buy some fresh mint and verveine (I don't know the English) to make some herb tea
Sampling the olives
Playing with the scale at the perfume seller's shop. He served us mint tea and told us stories of his family and his sejour in France. We bought blocks of perfume.
We enjoyed a lunch at home of the treasures we had found at the market including a salad of cucumbers and avocados dressed with huile d'argan.

Then we were ready to set out for the beach

Jaxon approved

We enjoyed another beach sunset. We weren't the only ones.
Jaxon said "I know what that says, Stop"  He was picking up Arabic quickly.

We found this great little restaurant on a side road
Baby Eva loved being able to hang out on the couches
Daniel ordered a mountain of couscous. I ordered tagine. It was accompanied by olives, Moroccan soup and an omelet, which Jonas devoured. He kept on talking about how great the food was. Which it was, we were just surprised by how much he liked it. He has been really picky at home, so for the previous month we had been telling him that he was going to starve in Morocco. I  guess we managed he expectations well and he was pleasantly surprised.
We were stuffed. It was nice to be able to lay back and relax on the couches after such a satisfying meal.

It was just a perfect day. When the boys were lying in bed that night we asked them what their favorite part of the day was. For Jonas, it was the restaurant. "I loved the food," he said. Jaxon had to think for a minute. Then he smiled. "The kittens," he announced. I'm glad  we came all the way to Morocco so he could enjoy cuddling kittens.
