Roman ruins and pilgrimage sights
Another delicious breakfast with homemade jams.
And some sugar for Jonas
Stop 1 for the day: the Roman ruins of Volubilis.
The apparently iconic storks.
Luckily this wasn't Europe or Evaëlle would have been kicked out.
After a nice long morning at Volubilis we headed to the neighborin pilgramage site of Moulay Idriss.
According to the guide book we were supposed to find a petit and grand terrasse overlooking the tomb of Moulay Idriss, but no one really seemed to know what we were talking about. Eventually we did come to an area which seemed like it could have been a terrasse overlooking the city, but it also served as a dump. Daniel was satisfied, in any case.
We got back to Mèknes in time to enjoy the late afternoon. We opted for a calèche tour, in a much-too Cinderella-esque buggy.
We had dinner overlooking the grand place where the kids were able to get a better view of the street performers than down below.
A snail cart in the market. Jaxon wanted to same them all from certain consumption
Having been chocolate deprived, we were seduced by this stand. We five of each flavor, so everyone could have one. I think we overdid it however. Jaxon was enthusiastic when he tasted it, 'It isn't the worst chocolate I have ever tasted,' he declared. I guess that it is hard to be impressed with chocolate when you come with Switzerland. In any case, the chocolate when still with us when we left Morocco.
