We stayed near Vik next, making a visit to the blacksand beaches.
Time to ride Icelandic horses!
I wasn't sure how Evaëlle would feel about horseback riding. Technically, she was supposed to be with an 'experienced rider' (I am not sure that Daniel would qualify...), but she apparently prefered being with her inexperienced dad to an experienced stranger.

Back on the Ring Road, heading toward the Westmann Islands. We took a short pit stop to visit the Eyjafjallajokull visitor center and to witness the volcano which had us trapped in Germany a couple of years back.

This was an interesting surprise; back in the mid-1800s hundreds of Westmann Islanders converted to Mormonism and 410 emigrated to Utah. This memorial was erected in their honor.
