Completing the family
So, for a long time now Jonas has been talking about how he wants a baby at our house, how he would wipe the baby's bum and sleep with the baby and give the baby a binkie and on and on. He also has been talking about wanting a dog. So having to pick one or the other...we went for the baby. You know how much trouble puppies can be. We didn't tell the kids until we went in for the first ultrasound at 12 weeks a couple of months ago. Jaxon immediately knew what it was when he saw the baby; Jonas didn't understand what was going on as quickly. When he realized what was going on, his response was, "I'm not going to kill the baby, mom." Nice that he could put our minds at ease. But it was Jaxon's reaction that surprised me the most. He has never shown any interest in having a baby in our house, and I even asked him if he would like to have a baby in our family after I knew I was expecting and his response was like, "Nah." As soon as he found out, however, all of that changed. He was so excited after the ultrasound he wanted to scream the news from the rooftops. At least he was literally screaming “Ma maman a un bébé dans son ventre!” (My mom has a baby in her tummy) from the top of the jungle gym. I was glad that I didn't tell him until he could tell the whole world. We are all excited for this baby (even if it came a little faster than expected) who, if everything goes as planned, should be the last little piece of our family puzzle.
